Job Title: Sous Chef
Establishment: Luxury Hotel & Two Rosette Restaurant
Location: Stroud
Salary: £29,000 to £32,000 P/A + Service Charge (approx. £3500 per year)
Hours: Permanent, 40 hours per week

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop seasonal menus, ensuring creativity, variety, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Supervise and mentor kitchen staff, providing guidance, training, and motivation to maintain a cohesive and high-performing team.
  • Oversee food preparation, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and timely execution of dishes during service.
  • Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage food costs to meet budgetary goals while maintaining quality standards.
  • Uphold strict hygiene, health, and safety regulations in compliance with local, state, and federal standards.
  • Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluation of kitchen staff.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as front-of-house staff, to ensure seamless coordination and exceptional guest experiences.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, techniques, and innovations, incorporating new ideas into menu development and kitchen operations.
  • Handle administrative tasks, such as scheduling, record-keeping, and reporting, to support efficient kitchen management.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities by fostering a positive work environment, promoting teamwork, and resolving conflicts effectively.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a reputable establishment, preferably within a hotel or fine dining restaurant.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent certification from a recognizsd culinary institution.
  • Extensive knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation methods, and kitchen management best practices.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively collaborate with colleagues at all levels.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for maintaining high standards of quality and consistency.
  • Proficiency in food safety and sanitation protocols, with certification in food handling safety
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the demands of the hospitality industry.
  • Creative flair and a passion for culinary innovation, demonstrated through a portfolio of successful menu creations or culinary projects.
