Our client is seeking a talented Sous Chef to join their Kitchen Brigade at the prestigious country house hotel, rated as one of the best 4* Hotels in Hertfordshire.
The successful candidate will assist the Senior Sous and Executive Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food production, and maintaining a smooth culinary process.
The role
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Kitchen Brigade Senior Management to plan and create menus that meet quality standards
- Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation
- Lead and motivate kitchen staff to achieve culinary excellence
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards and maintain high standards of food hygiene
- Assist in managing inventory and controlling food costs, including dealing with dealing with stick ordering, deliveries and stock rotation
- Supervise kitchen operations during the Senior Sous and Executive Chef's absence
- Train new kitchen staff on Kitchen culinary and other techniques and procedures
Qualifications / Experience:
- Proven experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry , preferably in a quality restaurant/culinary or 4*environment . (We would also consider experienced CDP with appropriate skills.)
- Proficient in food preparation, production, and cooking techniques
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and support the kitchen team
- Knowledge of restaurant operations and kitchen management
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure
- Organised, precise, with a keen eye for detail
- Excellent team management and supervisory abilities, with good communication skills and able to work well as part of a Team.
- Understanding of food safety practices and regulations, with relevant culinary qualifications
