The Opportunity
A prestigious 2 Rosette-awarded restaurant in York, proudly featured in the Michelin Guide, is seeking a passionate and ambitious Sous Chef to join its established and friendly kitchen team. This is an excellent opportunity for a chef with experience in fresh, seasonal cooking who is looking to progress their career in a supportive and professional environment.
Working closely with the Head Chef, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the restaurant’s high standards of food quality, kitchen management, and team development.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
- Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
- Contribute to menu development and presentation standards.
- Maintain excellent food hygiene and safety practices.
- Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff.
- Help manage stock, ordering, and kitchen organisation.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Previous experience in a fine dining or fresh food kitchen.
- Genuine passion for quality ingredients and seasonal cooking.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- High attention to detail and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Previous Rosette experience is desirable but not essential.
