The Opportunity
Two acclaimed city centre restaurants in York are seeking an experienced or aspiring Sous Chef to join their senior kitchen team. Operated by a renowned hospitality group with Michelin-star credentials, these venues are known for their commitment to fresh, locally sourced ingredients and exceptional food across multiple dining formats.
This is a unique opportunity to work across two dynamic kitchens, supporting the Head Chefs and Executive Chef in delivering high-quality, creative dishes in a fast-paced, professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support senior chefs across both restaurants, stepping in to cover leadership duties when required.
- Direct food preparation and ensure consistent quality and presentation.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef on menu development and kitchen strategy.
- Supervise and motivate kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive team culture.
- Assist with ordering, stock control, and supplier management.
- Maintain food safety and hygiene standards in line with regulations.
- Contribute to the smooth running of daily kitchen operations.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience working in a busy, fresh-produce kitchen.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a focus on quality and consistency.
- Passionate about seasonal cooking and local sourcing.
- Culinary qualifications and food safety certification are desirable.
