Full-Time | £30,000–£36,000 per year + Tips


About the Role

A beautifully refurbished gastropub located near Swindon is seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in leading the kitchen team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a chef who is passionate about fresh, seasonal food and looking to step up in a creative, fast-paced environment. The venue is known for its warm hospitality, locally sourced ingredients, and relaxed dining experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations including food prep, cooking, and service.
  • Supervise and support junior kitchen staff, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
  • Uphold high standards of food hygiene and safety.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of seasonal menus.
  • Help manage stock levels and supplier relationships.
  • Ensure consistency in quality and presentation across all dishes.
  • Step up in the Head Chef’s absence to maintain kitchen leadership.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience as a Sous Chef or strong background as a Chef de Partie ready to progress.
  • Solid understanding of kitchen operations and food safety standards.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Passion for fresh, seasonal cooking and creative menu input.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and lead by example.
  • Previous experience in gastropub or restaurant settings preferred.
