About the Role
A beautifully refurbished gastropub located near Swindon is seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in leading the kitchen team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a chef who is passionate about fresh, seasonal food and looking to step up in a creative, fast-paced environment. The venue is known for its warm hospitality, locally sourced ingredients, and relaxed dining experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations including food prep, cooking, and service.
- Supervise and support junior kitchen staff, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
- Uphold high standards of food hygiene and safety.
- Contribute to the development and execution of seasonal menus.
- Help manage stock levels and supplier relationships.
- Ensure consistency in quality and presentation across all dishes.
- Step up in the Head Chef’s absence to maintain kitchen leadership.
Ideal Candidate
- Experience as a Sous Chef or strong background as a Chef de Partie ready to progress.
- Solid understanding of kitchen operations and food safety standards.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Passion for fresh, seasonal cooking and creative menu input.
- Ability to work well under pressure and lead by example.
- Previous experience in gastropub or restaurant settings preferred.
