Job Title: Senior Chef de Partie
Location: Oxford
Salary: £14–£16 per hour, depending on experience
Hours: This is a full-time position with the option of working 22.5, 39, or 45 hours per week / 5 days out of 7 (including evenings/weekends on rota)

Pineapple Recruitment are collaborating with one of the prestigious universities in Oxford, renowned for its pioneering history and extensive grounds in North Oxford, which is seeking a passionate and skilled Senior Chef de Partie to join its dedicated kitchen team. Our client prides itself on delivering high-quality, diverse cuisine for a wide range of occasions - from daily meals for students and Fellows to prestigious banquets, conferences, and special events.

The role:

The Senior Chef de Partie is a key member of the kitchen team, responsible for the preparing and serving of breakfast, lunch, dinner meals for student and staff, internal formal lunches and dinners for fellows and conferencing department.  It is vital for the jobholder to have high standards in Food Hygiene and to follow Health and Safety procedures to avoid accidents, food spoilage and waste. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Create healthy, well balanced and tasty meals following the daily menu schedule
  • Making sure compliance is met with dietary and religious requirements 
  • Follow correct portion control criteria as outlined by Kitchen Management team 
  • Making sure overproduction and food wastage is kept to a minimum
  • Ensure the correct labelling of all foods, including correct date and allergen labelling 
  • Comply with all Health & Safety and Food Safety requirements, COSHH, HACCP and RIDDOR procedures.
  • Ensure temperature record sheet are maintained and up to date.
  • Ensure the kitchen is clean and hygienic at all times.
  • Ensure kitchen uniform and personal hygiene requirements are adhered to.
  • Participate in reviews of menus and service.
  • Provide guidance to catering staff on service and portion control, ensuring that all food is safe and served at an appropriate temperature.

About You

  • Minimum level 2 Food Safety qualification.
  • Knowledge of current UK allergen legislation.
  • Spoken and written command of English, good numeracy skills
  • Ability to run a section independently.
  • Ability to work in a team and to manage junior chefs by leading by example.
  • Positive and approachable attitude.
  • Willingness to embrace new ideas & processes.
  • Willingness to use own initiative, skills & knowledge to the benefit of the team and business.

What's on offer:

  • The salary will be £14–£16 per hour, depending on experience.
  • This is a full-time position with the option of working 22.5, 39, or 45 hours per week.
  • Benefits of working for the College include 37 days of holiday (including bank holidays) pro rata
  • The option to join the University pension scheme 
  • One free meal whilst on duty when the kitchens are open.
  • There will be an initial probationary period of six months.
