Job Title: Senior Chef de Partie

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £32,104 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 5 out of 7 days, including evenings and weekends.
Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Chef de Partie to join a dynamic and diverse catering team within a prestigious University setting in Cambridge. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, high-standard environment where creativity and professionalism are valued.
The role:
As Senior Chef de Partie, you’ll work closely with the Head Chef and Deputy Head Chef to deliver consistently high-quality food for a variety of services including daily meals, formal dining, and conference events. You’ll play a key role in mentoring junior staff, maintaining kitchen standards, and contributing to an innovative and customer-focused dining experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes across multiple service formats
- Support and train junior kitchen staff
- Deputise for senior chefs during absences
- Maintain food safety standards and comply with HACCP procedures
- Monitor budgets and minimise food waste
- Provide accurate allergen information and brief service staff accordingly
- Conduct health and safety checks and report necessary actions
- Assist with daily ordering and stock management
- Engage with guests and staff in a professional and courteous manner

- Strong culinary skills and ability to cater for diverse functions
- Excellent time management and organisational abilities
- Friendly and effective communicator
- Thorough understanding of food presentation and temperature control
- Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team
- Positive attitude and flexibility to support colleagues when needed
- Knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety regulations
Qualifications & Experience:
- City & Guilds 706, NVQ Level 2 & 3 (or equivalent), or currently working towards
- Previous experience in a similar professional kitchen environment
- Previous experience or background in fine dining
- High personal standards in punctuality, presentation, and attendance
