Pineapple Recruitment is partnering with a highly respected, growing professional services firm based in Bromley, Kent. We are seeking a skilled and commercially minded Management Accountant to strengthen the finance function and provide critical insight that supports strategic decision-making across the business. This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with senior partners and practice heads in a professional yet friendly environment. Crucially, candidates must possess previous experience gained within a law firm or a regulatory professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities You will be responsible for maintaining the financial integrity and providing timely financial reporting for the firm, including:
Management Reporting: Prepare complete monthly management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and deliver variance analysis, commentary, and insightful reporting to senior management.
Compliance & Controls: Manage and reconcile client accounts in strict compliance with the relevant Professional Services Client Money Rules (e.g., Solicitors Accounts Rules - SARs).
Cash Management: Oversee all aspects of cash flow management.
Payroll & Statutory Filings: Manage the firm's monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy, compliance with HMRC requirements, and timely submission of contributions.
General Ledger: Maintain accurate accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.
Tax: Oversee VAT returns, tax submissions, and other statutory filings.
Ad Hoc: Support the finance team and the wider business with various ad hoc tasks as required.
Skills & Experience Essential Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in management accounting or financial management.
Demonstrable experience within a law firm or professional services environment.
Strong working knowledge of client money rules (e.g., Solicitors Accounts Rules - SARs).
Proven experience in payroll processing and compliance.
Expert Excel and financial reporting skills.
Excellent technical grounding in accounting principles and financial controls.
Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively to non-finance colleagues.
Desirable Attributes:
Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
Experience with specialist accounting software used within the legal/professional sector.
Comfortable working autonomously within a small team structure and managing multiple responsibilities.
