Salary: £13.47 per hour

Hours: Approx. 37.5 hours per week (Flexible working week)

Reporting To: Kitchen Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Kitchen Supervisor to supervise the kitchen in the absence of the Kitchen Manager and Assistant Kitchen Manager. In this role, you will train kitchen assistants, help prepare, cook, and deliver our unique food offer, and act as the main point of communication for the kitchen during your assigned shifts.

Working within a small team in a fast-paced environment under pressure, you will deliver high-quality, personable service. The menu is dynamic and continuously evolving according to seasons, trends, and the collective passion of our chef team within a popular independent organic brewery taproom.

Main Responsibilities

  • Shift Supervision: Act as the supervisor and key point of contact for the kitchen on assigned shifts.

  • Menu Development: Work alongside the Kitchen Manager to continually develop our menu, including seasonal and occasion offerings (e.g. weddings, corporate events).

  • Food Preparation & Service: Prepare, cook, and serve the full range of our menu items.

  • Team Training: Train and mentor kitchen assistants to maintain standards.

  • Stock & Compliance: Assist with stock management (including timely ordering and stocktakes), food safety, allergen compliance, health and safety, and food hygiene regulations.

  • Customer Service: Ensure outstanding customer service and maintain high standards within an open-plan kitchen environment.

Person Specification

Essential Requirements:

  • Kitchen & Menu Experience: Proven experience in a similar kitchen setting, a passion for organic/fresh local ingredients, and experience developing exciting menus across different areas.

  • Leadership & Teamwork: Team leadership experience, ability to work well within a small team, and a track record of training staff.

  • Compliance & Technical Skills: Solid working knowledge of food hygiene, Health & Safety, allergen compliance, and experience operating kitchen machinery.

  • Work Ethic & Professionalism: Presentable for an open-plan kitchen, calm under pressure, practical, reliable, flexible, conscientious, detail-oriented, and keen to learn.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience cooking in pizza ovens / over wood.

  • Basic computer literacy (email, spreadsheets, word-processing).

  • An interest in real ales and their production.

  • A shared alignment with our ethos for sustainability.
