Job Title: Kitchen Manager
Hours: 37.5 per week (2 admin days, 3 service days)
Salary: £27,000-32,000 per year
Location: Stroud area
We’re working with a fantastic client in the Stroud area who is looking for a passionate and experienced Kitchen Manager to lead their busy kitchen team. The kitchen is built around a wood-fired oven and grill, with a strong focus on fresh, organic, and locally sourced ingredients. Their all-day menu features brunch, lunch, grill dishes, and weekly pizzas, alongside regular specials and event catering.

The role :
To lead the kitchen team in delivering a unique, fresh, and healthy food offering that reflects the values of the business and keeps their regulars coming back
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire the kitchen team in a fast-paced environment
- Ensure food hygiene and safety standards are consistently met
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including prep, service, and closing procedures
- Develop seasonal menus and specials using organic and local ingredients
- Manage food costings and maintain target GP margins
- Source and maintain supplier relationships
- Conduct monthly stocktakes and manage inventory
- Recruit, train, and appraise kitchen staff
- Manage rotas, timesheets, and holiday approvals
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth service
- Maintain a welcoming and professional kitchen atmosphere
- Uphold health and safety policies and procedures
Person Specification
Essential:
- Proven experience managing a busy kitchen and leading a team
- Strong menu development and costing skills
- Excellent organisational and communication abilities
- Passion for organic, seasonal, and sustainable cooking
- Confident with kitchen machinery and basic maintenance
- Skilled in food hygiene and health & safety compliance
- Computer literate (email, spreadsheets, word processing)
- Calm under pressure, proactive, and detail-oriented
- Flexible, reliable, and team-focused

- Maintain staff-to-revenue ratio at 35%
- Operate within agreed kitchen margins
- Maintain 5-star hygiene rating
- Achieve and sustain 60% organic and/or local ingredient usage
