Job Title: Junior Chef
Location: Prestigious College in Oxford
Salary: £12.77 per hour (£26,561 per annum)
Contract Type: Full time, permanent 
Hours: 40 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7 including weekends
The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Junior Chef to join the dedicated catering team at a prestigious college in Oxford. Under the supervision of the Head Chef, you will help deliver high-quality catering services to academics, staff, students, and visitors throughout term time and vacation periods.

You’ll be part of a small and friendly team that continually strives to enhance its food offering. In addition to day-to-day service, you’ll gain experience catering for large banquets, formal private dinners, and college community meals.
Key Responsibilities
	- Prepare, present, and cook fresh, high-quality dishes in line with college guidelines, including for events such as conferences and weddings.
 
	- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all working areas, ensuring no cross-contamination.
 
	- Prepare mise-en-place for all relevant menus.
 
	- Work independently and occasionally lead a shift in the absence of kitchen management.
 
	- Collaborate effectively with colleagues as part of a committed team.
 
	- Comply with college security and fire regulations.
 
	- Adhere to Health and Safety, COSHH, and all Food Safety legislation.
 
	- Report maintenance, hygiene, and hazard issues promptly to the Senior Chef.
 
	- Assist with receiving deliveries and ensure quality standards of goods received.
 
	- Carry out any other reasonable requests from the kitchen management team.
 
Requirements
	- Previous experience in an educational or college catering environment.
 
	- Experience in fine dining service
 
	- High standard of culinary skills across all kitchen areas with demonstrable experience.
 
	- Proven ability to prepare and cook food to the highest standard.
 
	- Strong communication skills and excellent time management.
 
	- Positive, reliable, enthusiastic, and self-motivated attitude.
 
	- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
 
	- Good awareness of seasonal ingredients.
 
	- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
 
	- Flexible approach to hours and duties.
 
	- Strong organisational skills.
