Role Overview:
As the General Manager, you will take full responsibility for every aspect of your restaurant’s operations. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will oversee profitability, team development, customer experience, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Profitability & Cost Management
- Take ownership of your restaurant's profitability, closely monitoring and controlling costs across all areas.
- Support the Head Chef in meeting food cost targets by ensuring adherence to specifications, monitoring yields, verifying orders, and maintaining product availability at all times.
- Recognise labour as a significant cost factor, creating efficient rotas and reducing turnover through effective recruitment, training, and team engagement.
Team Leadership & Development
- Engage, motivate, and inspire your team through clear communication and regular updates, fostering a positive and well-informed workplace culture.
- Prioritise staff development by rotating responsibilities across key team members, such as the Head Chef, Deputy Manager, Sous Chef, and Team Leaders, encouraging their growth and progression.
- Focus on team retention by monitoring turnover figures and planning succession to ensure the right people are in the right roles.
- Maintain a safe and supportive working environment by applying sound HR practices, managing situations effectively, and seeking appropriate advice when required.
Customer Experience
- Ensure every shift delivers an exceptional customer experience, maintaining the highest standards of service and hospitality.
- Use feedback effectively to make informed decisions and continuously improve the customer journey.
Operational Excellence
- Confidently support all sections of the kitchen, providing hands-on assistance as needed.
- Stay connected to your local environment, identifying innovative ways to boost sales and enhance customer engagement.
