Deputy Care Home Manager (Nursing)

Location: Lowestoft 
Salary: £50,000 per year
Type: Permanent

NMC registered nurse with relevant experience - essential.

Overview:

As the Deputy Home Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing the operations of the care home, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care, and supporting the Home Manager in all aspects of running the facility. You will lead and supervise the care staff, and take full managerial responsibilities in the absence of the Home Manager. Your role will include direct supervision, training of staff, and maintaining effective communication with residents, their families, and external organisations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operational Management:

    • Assist the Home Manager in daily operations to meet or exceed goals.
    • Take full management responsibility when the Home Manager is absent.
  2. Staff Supervision and Training:

    • Train and supervise care staff, providing direct instruction and setting a positive example.
    • Ensure care staff adhere to best practices and home policies.
  3. Resident Care:

    • Help with pre-admission assessments of prospective residents.
    • Maintain and update residents' care plans and daily records.
    • Promote and ensure high standards of care are delivered to all residents.
  4. Communication:

    • Foster effective communication with residents, their families, and other organizations.
    • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with external care professionals, families, visitors, and the staffing team.
  5. Quality and Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with CQC standards.
    • Identify and address any safeguarding adult/abuse concerns, following the appropriate referral pathways.
  6. Resident and Family Involvement:

    • Encourage the involvement of residents and their families in the development, agreement, and evaluation of care programs.
    • Promote ownership of care programs by involving service users and their families.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Experience: Previous experience as a Deputy Home Manager.
  • Engagement: Ability to engage with service users to understand their needs and provide excellent care services.
  • Safeguarding: Ability to identify referral pathways for safeguarding adults/abuse.
  • Compliance: Good working knowledge of CQC standards.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships with external care professionals, families, visitors, and staff.
  • Care Program Promotion: Ability to promote ownership of care programs by involving service users and their families.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Essential: NMC registered nurse with relevant experience.
