Company Accountant

Our client is an established leader, operating across multiple UK depots and supporting suppliers across various industries. They are currently seeking an experienced Company Accountant to lead their internal finance department and work closely with the Senior Leadership team.

Role Overview:

As the Company Accountant, you will take ownership of all management accounting functions across the group. You will lead a dedicated team of 3 accounts professionals providing guidance, mentorship, and operational support while working closely with senior leadership to drive financial accuracy and business performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Management & Reporting: Produce monthly management accounts for the group and present insightful commentary and reporting to senior management.
• Team Leadership: Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the 3-person accounts team.
• Forecasting & Planning: Prepare cash flow forecasts, annual P&L projections, and period-end variance analysis.
• Tax & Compliance: Prepare and submit quarterly Group VAT returns, manage PAYE submissions.
• Financial Controls: Post routine journals, oversee inter-company transactions, and manage the Fixed Asset Register.
• Analysis & Ad-Hoc Duties: Monitor and analyse payroll expenses, assist team members as needed, and deliver ad-hoc financial reporting for executive leadership.

Candidate Profile

• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Sage 200 and Microsoft Excel is essential, along with strong overall IT literacy.
• Experience: Proven track record in a management accounting role within a multi-site or group structure.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional accuracy, high attention to detail, strong team-leadership qualities, and excellent communication skills across all organisational levels.
• Attributes: Self-motivated, proactive, hands-on, and capable of balancing high-level strategy with day-to-day transactional support.
