Job Title: Commis Chef

Establishment: Prestigious Country House Hotel

Location: Hertfordshire

Salary: Up to £26,000-£27,000 + Service Charge

About the Role: We are seeking a Commis Chef to join the esteemed kitchen brigade of a prestigious country house hotel in Hertfordshire, renowned for its exceptional service and luxurious accommodations. This is a permanent position working up to 45 hours per week over 5 days, as per rota, and includes various shifts such as weekdays, evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining high levels of service and good communication with all kitchen Team.
  • Have good culinary skills and experience of working as a Commis Chef in previous role, preferably in a quality restaurant/culinary environment. (We would also consider experienced Commis Chef with appropriate skills.)
  • Ability to run the kitchen Breakfast / Lunch or Dinner service in absence of Kitchen Management, as and when required;
  • Prepare, cook and serve all items on the menu to a high standard and regularly topping up breakfast buffet
  • Cooking items and preparing food as per seasonal demand
  • Assist in the prep & cooking of all other food required during their hours of work
  • Following the recipes and presentation specifications whilst preparing food and keeping up to date with any change

Requirements:

 
  • Possess the relevant skills and personality.
  • To have the ability at all times to do the utmost for staff, colleagues, customers and the company, including:
  • Ability to cook, with experience of being a Commis Chef, ideally in similar/comparable role 
  • Carry out tasks quickly and in an orderly fashion
  • The ability to lift and carry kitchen supplies and equipment etc. in the different kitchen areas
  • Assist Kitchen Brigade with food preparation and cooking, as required
  • The ability to work on your own as well as part of a team and follow instructions effectively
  • Ability to use your initiative and remaining calm under pressure 
  • Good communication skills with at spoken English and basic level of written English (to read orders etc.)
  • Proactive, good team player, with a can-do-attitude
  • Reliable, trustworthy with good timekeeping
  • Hold Level 2 Food Safety, Allergen Training and any other relevant culinary qualifications.
