About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Demi Chef de Partie/Commis chef to join a dynamic and diverse catering team within a prestigious University setting in Cambridge.

Key Responsibilities
- In liaison with the Section Chefs, assisting in the preparation, cooking and presentation of food for Fellows, students and guests
- Ensuring that all food preparation is carried out to College’s high standards and ensure complete customer satisfaction
- Ensuring standards of work are kept to a high level, that productivity is maintained at all times
- Contributing to the creation of new menus and dishes with the Kitchen Management Team
- Ensuring that high levels of food safety standards are maintained in the kitchen at all times, following the College’s HACCP’s and COSHH policies
- Maintaining a high level of awareness for allergens, labelling dishes as appropriate in accordance with legislation
- Assisting in the receipt and storage of all provisions, fresh and frozen, in accordance with current food hygiene regulations including correct stock rotation and storage. This involves lifting and bending on regular basis.
- Ensuring that all food is labelled clearly and correctly
- Ensuring that the cleaning schedule is adhered to
- In the absence of other chefs, you are to provide cover as required
- Undertaking further training and development when required
- Any other reasonable duties required by the Head Chef and Kitchen Management Team
About You
Our client are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Demi Chef de Partie who is passionate about cooking and eager to contribute to a vibrant and busy kitchen environment.
- Experience: Proven experience working as a Demi Chef de Partie or in a similar role within a high-volume kitchen setting.
- Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery (or equivalent) is essential.
- Skills: Strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and excellent communication skills. You should be a team player who can also work independently when required.
- Creativity: A passion for food innovation and a keen eye for detail, with the ability to bring fresh and exciting ideas to the menu.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings as required by the rota.
