Job Title: Chef de Partie
Location: Prestigious Cambridge College
Salary: £29,659 - £30,505 per annum (depending on experience)
About the Role
Join a renowned Cambridge college as a Chef de Partie, playing a key role in delivering exceptional dining experiences for Fellows, students, staff, and distinguished guests. Reporting to the Sous Chef, you’ll take ownership of your station, ensure food quality and presentation, and contribute to the smooth running of the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Operations:
- Manage your designated station, ensuring food preparation and service are executed to the highest standards.
- Maintain consistency in food quality, taste, and presentation across all dishes.
- Assist the Sous Chef and Head Chef in the overall delivery of menus.
Teamwork & Collaboration:
- Work closely with kitchen colleagues, providing support and mentorship to junior staff.
- Actively contribute to a harmonious and productive kitchen environment.
Inventory & Preparation:
- Ensure your station is fully stocked and ready for service.
- Manage ingredients, stock rotation, and minimise wastage.
Health & Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations, including HACCP and COSHH standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation at your workstation at all times.
Menu Development:
- Collaborate with the Sous Chef and Head Chef on seasonal and special event menus.
- Provide creative input to enhance menu variety and appeal.
Quality Control:
- Conduct checks to ensure food presentation, portioning, and taste meet the college’s high standards.
- Respond promptly and professionally to any service-related challenges.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery.
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
Desirable Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 in Professional Cookery.
- Training in HACCP and COSHH protocols.
Essential Skills:
- Strong culinary skills and expertise in working within a high-quality, high-volume kitchen environment.
- Excellent organisational abilities and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience as a Chef de Partie or in a similar role.
- Experience in fine dining or institutional kitchens is advantageous.
