Salary: £15.50 per hour

Contract Type: 6-month fixed-term contract

Hours: 35 hours per week (Term-time only, 38 weeks per year)

Schedule: Monday to Friday (No weekends, no late nights, closed over school holidays)

The Role & Responsibilities

As the Chef Manager, you will take complete financial and operational responsibility for your school's catering facility. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will balance inspirational leadership with sharp commercial acumen to deliver exceptional dining experiences. Key duties include:

  • Operational Leadership: Inspire and motivate your team to consistently deliver a high-standard dining experience.

  • Culinary Excellence: Lead the preparation of nutritious, high-quality meals using seasonal menus, driving culinary innovation and menu development.

  • Team Development: Coach, train, and develop staff in a positive and professional manner to build a high-performing team.

  • Commercial Control: Maintain full control over costs (stock, food, labour) and expertly manage profitability and GP targets.

  • Sales & Growth: Drive sales through exciting monthly promotions and creative added-value events.

  • Client Relations & Compliance: Build strong client relationships and guarantee 100% compliance with Health & Safety, food hygiene, and allergen legislation through regular audits.

About You

We are seeking a high-calibre professional who shares a passion for great food and exceptional service with:

  • Prior experience managing and motivating a team within a commercial catering environment.

  • A robust understanding of Gross Profit (GP) management, cost control, and a track record of meeting sales targets.

  • Strong, demonstrable craft-based skills using fresh ingredients.

  • In-depth working knowledge of kitchen Health & Safety practices and compliance.

  • An OND/HND qualification (or equivalent) is preferred, but strong practical experience is key.
