Job Description

Our Client is a successful catering Company that recognise that food is more than what you eat, and they also recognise that their staff are more than what’s on the surface! As a Chef Manager, you’ll be involved in the full operation – working to keep a highly skilled team motivated, implementing fantastic experiences for staff and students whilst keeping an eye on all operational and financial matters.

This is a ‘hands-on’ position and therefore a passion for working with fresh food and highly nutritious menus is a must! Key leadership skill, an ability to develop people and strong cooking and food preparation skill is the ideal mix for this position.

It’s a sociable role with good work-life balance yet it can be fast-paced and pressured at times. The team will be looking to you to provide calmness and systematic ways of working to ensure an efficient and productive operation, seamlessly fusing service and tasty meals to create an enjoyable environment.

In this role, you can expect the following:

  • Leading by example to manage a team through preparation of nutritious meals and highly engaging service
  • Adhering to company standards and making sure that Food Safety, Hygiene and H&S are all aligned with expectations at a high level
  • Oversee menu development and introduce a creative flair, aiming for continuous improvement
  • Offer guidance and support development for staff, instilling a progressive atmosphere where people can learn lots whilst working hard
  • Appropriately control stock levels, food standards and labour, along with all controllable costs to maximise profitability
  • Complete regular audits to ensure standards always ‘above and beyond’
  • Drive overall performance by instilling best practice and launching monthly promotions/events

What you’ll need:
You’re inspired by the ingredients you work with to create seasonal, balanced and nutritious menus. You’ll recruit, lead, manage and develop your own team, using your proven kitchen management experience and engaging communication skills. Ensuring our standards are met or exceeded, to keep food innovation firmly on the agenda and expertly manage your budget.
Being a part of our culture of learning is important, keeping up-to-date with food innovation and UK food trends. You will provide strong and dynamic leadership and coaching needed to keep standards and performance at the highest level, always encouraging new initiatives.
 
You will in turn be supported by your operational and food development team, together with the Head of Nutrition and Wellbeing.

This role is:

  • 40 hours per week 
  • 52 weeks per year
  • £45,000 per annum
  • Based at an independent school
