Salary: £28,200 + Bonuses (£500+)
Location: Cambridge
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week on a flexible rota basis (2 week rota - every other weekend off)

About the Role

Pineapple Recruitment are seeking a skilled and motivated Chef de Partie to join a dynamic and diverse catering team within a prestigious University setting in Cambridge. Reporting directly to the Head Chef, you will be part of a large, well-structured team responsible for delivering high-quality dishes across a variety of catering services, including formal dining events, conferences, receptions, buffets, and daily meals for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborative Cooking: Work closely with the kitchen brigade to prepare and cook a wide range of dishes, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.
  • Section Management: Take ownership of specific sections within the kitchen (e.g., grill, sauces, pastry) and ensure that all dishes leaving your section are prepared to the highest standards.
  • Menu Development: Actively contribute to the creation and development of new menu items, offering creative input and adapting dishes to cater to various dietary requirements.
  • Quality Control: Maintain strict standards of food hygiene, safety, and quality control, ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Training & Mentorship: Assist in the training and development of junior kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to help them reach their full potential.
  • Stock Management: Participate in the management of kitchen inventory, including the ordering and rotation of stock, to minimize waste and ensure freshness.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Chef de Partie who is passionate about cooking and eager to contribute to a vibrant and busy kitchen environment.

  • Experience: Proven experience working as a Chef de Partie or in a similar role within a high-volume kitchen setting.
  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Professional Cookery (or equivalent) is essential.
  • Skills: Strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and excellent communication skills. You should be a team player who can also work independently when required.
  • Creativity: A passion for food innovation and a keen eye for detail, with the ability to bring fresh and exciting ideas to the menu.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings as required by the rota.
