Job Description

As a Buyer, you will drive the commercial performance of your category across all our formats. This role will be managing a category with scale and complexity, so you will need to have previous relevant commercial experience. You will be the key decision maker with the autonomy to deliver your category strategy. As the buyer within a fast paced procurement team you play a crucial role in managing the acquisition of goods and services necessary for the smooth functioning of educational institutions, social & hospitality. Responsible for evaluating and selecting suppliers, buyers negotiate terms and prices to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality. They collaborate with various stakeholders, both internal & external, to understand the specific needs of the institution and source products accordingly. Buyers must stay informed about market trends, regulations, and technological advancements to make informed decisions. Their role extends beyond cost considerations to include factors like sustainability, compliance, and long-term value. 

 

Effective communication, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of the environment are essential skills, alongside the capacity to utilise procurement systems and data analytics tools to streamline processes, track supplier performance, and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements. By harnessing technology, they can assess historical purchasing patterns, evaluate supplier reliability, and identify cost-saving opportunities. As a Buyer you will play a pivotal role in implementing and managing procurement systems that enhance efficiency and transparency throughout the procurement lifecycle. Their ability to analyse data allows for informed decision-making, enabling the internal teams and our clients to make strategic choices based on real-time insights and ensuring compliance with policies and industry standards. The integration of systems and data-driven approaches elevates the buyer's role to a key position in fostering efficiency, compliance, and strategic procurement within the organisation.
